(Not) too expensive/(Nie) za drogo

Our new priest is organizing a festival in the village. Two women were collecting the money. “How much is a figure?” – I asked them. “It’s 25 €!” – They told me. I thought it’s a lot, but I gave them the money. I didn’t want them to think that we’re poor. Later I came to the conclusion that I was silly.

At the beginning of 2009 I was seeking for a job in London. I had very little savings so I had to be careful with the money. One day I was went to the computer shop; it was empty and two shop assistants were looking at me. I asked the price of screen cleaning tissues: it was 20£.

I didn’t need the wipes – still I bought it because of the idea that the salesman may think it’s too expensive for me. I never used it, but the PC wipes remained with me during my London life. It reminded in our Bounds Green apartment, while we left England. I regretted leaving UK much more than buying the PC wipes…

Nasz nowy ksiądz organizuje festyn w miasteczku. Dwie kobiety zbierają pieniądze. „Jaka jest stawka?” – zapytałam. “25 €!”

Miałam niedużo oszczędności i musiałam uważać z pieniędzmi.
