Pan

In Greek mythology Pan is the god of the wild nature and mountains. According to Plutarch during the reign of Tiberius (A.D. 14–37), the news of Pan's death came to a sailor. A divine voice hailed him by way of the island of Paxi: "Thamus, are you there? Take care to proclaim that the great god Pan is dead." The news was greeted from shore with groans and laments.

Hayao Muyazaki anime film “Princess Mononoke” is set during in medieval Japan, an era when ancient gods were still alive. Lady Eboshi is the ruler of Irontown, a small mining settlement. The people are devastating the forest looking for iron ore which angered the gods. Eboshi opposes nature. Her antagonist Princess Mononoke, was raised by the wolves, and deeply resents humankind.

She’s fighting to save the God of the Forest, but Eboshi is killing him anyway... About one month ago we were told that the authorities would stop the trucks from coming to the factory in our industrial estate. It never happened, despite that radioactivity concentrations have been found in the industrial wastewater. Will mankind first kill the nature, then themselves?

W greckiej mitologii Pan był bogiem gór i dzikiej natury. Według Plutarcha za panowania Tyberiusza (14-37 n.e.) wieści o śmierci Pana doszła do marynarza. Boski głos wołał do niego z wyspy Paxi: „Thamusie, jesteś tam? Ogłoś wszystkim, że Pan umarł!” Wiadomość została przyjęta z wielkim żalem i lamentem.

Walczy by ocalić Boga Lasu, lecz Eboshi udaje się go zabić...
