Wishful thinking/Myślenie życzeniowe

A quote by Oscar Wilde: “In old days books were written by men of letters and read by the public. Nowadays books are written by the public and read by nobody”. The situation got worse rather than better in 21-st century. Every month in Poland about 1000 titles is coming out. Getting published is easy; getting noticed is tricker”.

How can writers make themselves heard in the age of blog and self-publishing saturation?”. The Internet, of course – but can you really reach the audience there? Writer Paweł Pollak claims that it's „wishful thinking”. I agree with him. Trying „to market” your book alone may become frustrating, and the results – quite miserable.

But the Internet did change the face of publishing. Aleksander Sowa published on Amazon. „10 of my e-books in sales” - He says. „November: 249 copies, December 470 copies”. It's not bad – especially for an author who calls himself „graphomaniac”. Maybe also for me there's still some hope…
