49.A course in miracles/Kurs cudów

Almost every Wenesday we watch a movie, but there was no film last week. The weather was beautiful, and our therapist invited us for a walk. There is small fresh-air gym not far from locked psychiatric ward. It reminded me of a movie: “Three Christs” is based on the true-life experiment. In the 1950s the patients in psychiatric hospitals were treated with drugs and electroshock treatments, but no psychological therapy.

Psychiatrist Dr. Alan Stone tried to change it, and started an unconventional experiment with three men. Each of them believes he’s Jesus. At first, they are not the best of friends. Slowly, three schizophrenics start to support each other… I can confirm that patients understand each other’s. Sometimes, even small gesture counts. Few days ago I was chatting with E. I told her about my life in Italy, and what brought me to Poland.

The next day she gifted me a chocolat bar “Danusia” with words: “She’s sharing herself to give a special flavour to life.” My story mattered to her! For a while, I was sort of relieved. People could learn from my mistakes. „Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story” – Desiderata says. “And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.” It’s a miracle.

Prawie każdej środy oglądamy filmy, w zeszłym tygodniu ominęło nas to jednak.

Następnego dnia podarowała mi batonik “Danusia” z napisem: “Dzieli się sobą by smak życiu nadać.” Moja historia miała dla niej znaczenie! Przez chwilę poczułam rodzaj ulgi. Moje błędy mogą czegoś nauczyć. „Wypowiadaj swoją prawdę jasno i spokojnie, wysłuchaj innych, nawet tępych i nieświadomych, oni też mają swoją opowieść.” To cud.
